Wine Week 123: Something old and something new… and you can win!

May 22nd, 2009

This week we include a wine we’ve looked at before as well as a wine whose grape we haven’t looked at as a single variety ever before. We kick off with a straight Malbec and while we’ve seen the grape in blends on the show previously, never have we looked at it on its own. Following this we check out a Clare Valley Riesling that we’ve seen in previous vintages and it’s still a great drop. To round things out we have a look at a Cabernet/Shiraz blend that is awesome buying right now.

PLUS we’ve got two double passes to the Melbourne Good Food & Wine Show with entry to Matt Skinner’s class on matching food & wine.

To enter simply join our subscriber list (if you’re not already) and then email us at info@wineweek.com.au. You’ll need to be able to make your own way to Melbourne on Sunday 7 June.

Wine Week 115: You’ve got to be in it to win(e) it!

March 27th, 2009

It’s that time of year again when the Aussie Rules football kicks off. And we’ve got a tipping comp that could win you half a dozen great wines from Kalleske. As well, of course, we look at three wines worth taking a punt on. We look at a white good enough for Brad to serve at his wedding last year. Our first red is a big, bold grenache from a producer in tip-top form. Our final wine is a lesser know producer kicking goals with top of the table Barossa fruit.

Wine Week 103: The Best Dozen of ‘08.

December 19th, 2008

In this, our final episode of 2008, we look back at our favourite dozen wines from the past year, and you could win one of two complete sets of the Best Dozen of ‘08!

As always our criteria was to pick our favourite bottles based both on the quality of the wine and value for money. It would have been simple to pick the 12 most expensive wines but we think that there are some absolutely brilliant bargains out there. If a wine is a brilliant drop and is awesome value for money it ranks pretty high with us.

For your chance to win, all you need to do is subscribe to our weekly emails. You can get extra entries into the draw by sending the competition details out to as many friends as you like – for everyone who you refer you’ll get an extra chance to win one of the two Best Dozen of ‘08 packs.

Following us on twitter also gains you an entry to win this fabulous prize valued at over $370.

The Best Dozen of ‘08 are (in no particular order):

  • Clover Hill vintage 2003 ($32-38)
  • Leo Buring Clare Valley riesling 2008 ($15-18)
  • Wolf Blass White Label riesling 2002 ($38-40)
