Wine Week 172: For the cool ones.

May 14th, 2010

Nobody wants their mates thinking they’re a goose. So we’re here to help you pick a wine that will make you seem savvy, smart and ahead of the game.

Your buddies will agree that you know how to spot a bargain when you crack the Barwang Shiraz, grown in the Hilltops region of New South Wales. If it’s a bit cool outside, you’ll be a big hit if you open a ‘Port’, and the Kalleske JMK is a winter warmer that will impress those looking for style and substance. Of course if you’re trying to show off for some wine snobs there are few better bottles than the Pewsey Vale Contours Riesling.

This week’s recommendations are:

  • Barwang Shiraz 2008 ($15-$20)
  • Kalleske JMK Shiraz VP 2008 ($21-$23)
  • Pewsey Vale Contours Riesling 2004 ($25-$29)

Cheers… and happy wine buying!
