The first is a classic shiraz from a producer who have really hit their straps again. The second is a sparkling red which dad could enjoy with bacon and eggs in the morning. The final wine is a Rutherglen fortified, a classic fathers day present for sure!

We check out a Barossa shiraz, a Hunter Valley semillon and a Mornington Peninsula pinot noir – a wine and region normally associated with high prices!

We also look at a chardonnay that might be the best mid-priced bottle of that variety in Australia. It’s not often that you could grab two wines that each retail under $11 and know that you’re in for some great drinking, but this week we manage just that. The first is a semillon that is so inexpensive you’ll only need loose change to get hold of it. The next bargain is a late harvest semillon which doesn’t overplay the sweetness. And finally we look at another Coonawarra Cab. Sauv. from the great 04 vintage.
